rBST Hormone in Cow's milk and having Twins

A study published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine reports that vegan women who do not include dairy products in their diet have twins one-fifth as often as the rate of women who consume conventional cow's milk. If your milk comes from cows given rBST (recombinant bovine somatotropin), also referred to as rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone).

Why is this phenomenon happening is the question asks? The theory is that rBST is converted to IGF (insulin like growth hormone) in the cow's liver and it is then passed on to the mothers through it's milk. IGF increase ovulation in humans and this increases the rate of dizgotic (fraternal) twins. In country's where rGST is banned, such is in the United Kingdom, the rate of having twins are significantly lower.

Other health affects in teen's and pre-teen's from rGST hormone in cow's milk

There has been speculation as to rGST being a factor in the earlier maturing and development of breasts earlier in teen's and pre-teen girls and boys.

Male breasts development from rGBT hormone in milk

rGST has been considered a factor in the increase of "male breast's", which has become more noticeable in the past decade. It has been found that breast development or larger breasts is occurring in men and boys who drink large quantities of milk.

Questions regarding future health problems in children because of rBST in milk.

One should wonder what other health affects are being caused by the dairy industry's desire to increase milk production and doing this by giving milk cow's the hormone rBST. What future health affects will there be to any or all children who's mothers consumed milk with rBST in it? This is something that will be extensively researched because of the extreme feelings and increasing knowledge of health affects and health links to milk from cow's given rBST.

One could also wonder about the affect this will have on the health of both men and women who have consumed rBST cow's milk. How long will it take for symptoms or health changes to take place in adult men, women and children? Can this hormone affect DNA changes that will affect future generations?

Other information to be researched further:

Insulin-growth factor (IGF-1) was found to increase 10-fold in rBGH milk. Increased IGF-1 is linked to breast, colon and prostate cancers in humans.

Monsanto had also withheld from the FDA data from studies on rats which showed that feeding rBGH elicited antibodies to the hormone and the males developed cysts on the thymus and abnormalities in the prostate gland.
